Glossary: General Contractor

A “GC” is the licensed main contractor for a construction project. They are responsible for managing all aspects of construction, including the supervision of the construction site, management of vendors and subcontractors (sometimes referred to as “subs”), communication with the customers, permitting, code compliance, inspections, and more. General contractors are sometimes also involved in the design phase of a construction project.
